Fire Safety Week at WestMo

It’s Fire Safety Week, and and we want to keep our campus safe! We have a week full of events planned to help everyone become more aware of how to stay safe and prevent fires, starting at 11 am on Monday, October 8 with a mock room burn. Meet us at the parking lot north of the dining hall to watch as a fake residence hall room is set on fire to see just how quickly a room can go up in flames! After that there will be various activities throughout the week to educate everyone on how to prevent fires and maximize fire safety both on and off campus. Check out the full schedule for the week:

Monday, October 8: See a demonstration of how dangerous a fire can truly be and find out everything you need to know about how to use a fire extinguisher
Mock dorm room burn, 11 am at the parking lot north of the dining hall
Fire extinguisher tutorial, 6:30 pm in Sloss Hall Lounge
Fire extinguisher demonstration with Fulton Fire Department, 7 pm in the Mueller Student Center parking lot

Tuesday, October 9: Learn about best practices and tips for cooking in campus housing
Do’s and don’ts of cooking in a res hall, 7:30 pm in Sloss Hall Lounge

Wednesday, October 10: Grab some refreshments and get some quick facts about fire prevention for college students
Be a Smartie, 6 pm in Westminster Grove Townhouse Lounge

Thursday, October 11: Take the pledge to learn to prevent false fire alarms in campus housing, and grab a treat from Winston the Blue Jay
Every Blue Jay Can Prevent False Fire Alarms, 11 am in the dinning hall lobby
